The 10th stop of the EuroTour presented by Rogue took place in Sieravuori, Finland from July 6th to July 8th
On the event’s 6th edition and its 3rd participation on the EuroTour for 2018 it represented the finale of a great summer series. For the third year in a row we were able to have the elite race with great downwind conditions. Starting from the bay of Kauttua where competitors already had a nice breeze behind them.
Running the same 13km race as last season, participants were greeted with solid winds that were consistent over the entire course and immediately put some separation between the athletes. Finland’s top SUP athlete, Tomas Lelovits, showed that his participation of six events on this year’s EuroTour have given him the experience to help his campaign, propelling him to 5th place overall.
On the Women’s race there was a nice duel between Germany’s Noelani Sach (NSP) and Susanne Lier (F-One) from the start, but when the bumps turned on Noelani pulled away claiming her second win on the EuroTour2018.
Behind them Latvia’s newcomer, Julija Mihailova, claimed her first podium of the season in 3rd. From Finland we had Elle Laakso (SIC) in 4th, showing that year after year the youngster is improving her level. Closing the Top 5 was Emmi Prykäri also from Finland.
On the men’s race it was Italy’s Francesco Mazzei (RRD International) all the way in his maiden victory on EuroTour and with a nice display of control on the bumps that ultimately gave him the edge over his competition.
After him an in form Branislav Sramek (Starboard) looked solid all the way, but couldn’t quite match Francesco’s pace and settled for an impressive 2nd. Rounding out the podium was Latvia’s top talent and our podium getter in Namur this year Arvis Iljins that is showing quite an improvement on the downwind conditions.
We really want to thank Jari and his team as well as the sponsors for making this event happen and specially to #nicostrzempa for photos and video and @fred.bonnef for keeping us all safe out there.
