Battle of the Coast- Stop #16 & 11th Grand Slam

The 16th stop of the EuroTour took place in The Netherlands on July 13-14th.  With a second year as a part of EuroTour, this time Zandvoort really came alive with some challenging ocean conditions and a “Marathon” length Technical course.

On Saturday morning the main event took place were the Elite competitors completed five laps of a brutal Technical Ocean course, where the North Sea claimed many scalps forcing quite a few competitors to retire. Fanatic team reigned supreme with local hero in the girls Emma Reijmerink (Fanatic) and Danish Christian Andersen (Fanatic) both earning solid wins.

Behind her there was an intense battle between the trio Esperanza Barreras (425PRO) who finished 2nd after proving that she belongs on the podium. Susak Molinero who seemed set for third until a last minute sprint by Danish youngster Caroline Kuntzel which saw her join her first International podium

The Men’s race was another 'Come back from behind victory' by Danish Christian Andersen (Fanatic) with his first International win

The race was clearly dominated by France’s Tom Auber (Fanatic) until a frantic sprint from Christian which finally made him settle for 2nd, showing that its never over until the end, specially in technical races. The ever consistent Tahitian Enzo Bennett (425Pro) ranked another podium to close the Top3 and cap a fantastic European campaign that will see him return in September for Germany. See results:
